How did you first hear of ElliptiGO? I was a competitive but thoroughly mid-pack masters runner looking for a novel training solution. After seeing one on the street and doing research on line I found out that a competitor, Brian Pilcher USATF Masters Athlete of the Year used one for cross training as well as hundreds of other elite athletes.

About John Burmester
John first became a customer of an ElliptiGO in 2013 when he purchased his first bike, a green long-stride 8c. An avid runner and competitive USATF masters marathoner, John qualified for and completed five Boston Marathons from 2012 through 2016. In 2014 he worked with coach Greg McMillan of McMillan Running using an elliptigo-integrated training program at age 53 to bring his times down to personal bests in the 5k, half marathon, and to a lifetime best of 3:09 in the marathon at the California International Marathon in 2014. Now a former runner, John is an avid ElliptiGO rider, doing 3-4,000 miles on average per year to maintain top fitness.
John served as a brand ambassador for ElliptiGO starting in 2014, additionally partnering with a local Fleet Feet running store to promote ElliptiGO bikes through 2015. In 2018 John came on as a mobile rep and has been building community rider groups in the Sacramento Area since. John especially enjoys sharing often life-changing lifestyle fitness and training solutions the ElliptiGO provides to those who are unable to run or bike because of chronic injury. He looks forward to consulting with you on your fitness goals, providing an optimal test ride experience as well as premium customer service, training advice, and support after the sale.

John's Journey with ElliptiGO
What is your favorite ElliptiGO Bike?
I am a huge fan of the long stride 11R. When I go out for my rides short or long I ride my 11R. The 11R is the premium experience.
What is your favorite local ride?
We have a rider group that would meet on the American River Bike trail in Sacramento and rides up and around the Johnny Cash bike trail. Usually 1.5 to 2 hours maybe 25 miles and 1500 feet of elevation. No traffic lights and beautiful scenery and FUN! Afterwards we meet for food and good conversation.
What is your longest or most memorable ride?
In 2015 I did the Markleeville Death Ride with 11 other ElliptiGOers. The aptly named Death ride is 129 miles and 16000 feet of climbing in California’s Sierra Nevada Mountains. It climbs 5 major passes. I had run 14 major marathons and ultra marathons including 5 Boston Marathons and that was the toughest yet most amazing endurance experience of my life. I’ve also had many memorable rides along the coast near ElliptiGO Headquarters at Solana Beach.

Want to Join a Group Ride?
The Golden Valley ElliptiGOers, aka GVE, are users of ElliptiGO bicycles riding together in Yolo and Sacramento Counties. Our group is approved by the non-profit, Global ElliptiGO Rider’s Club, aka GERC (see elliptigoclub.org). We often meet on weekends to ride in Davis, Folsom or Sacramento, for distances of 15-25 miles averaging 10-15 MPH, but these vary depending on the votes of those participating. Helmets and a thorough understanding of bicycle safety are required. Membership in GERC is strongly encouraged, but not required. Our experience has shown that ElliptiGO training is extremely fun and rewarding, but even more so when we ride together.
