Owners Form Official Global ElliptiGO Riders Club

The first official Global ElliptiGO Riders Club was established by people just like you – enthusiastic ElliptiGO owners who enjoy riding and meeting fellow GOers. Their goal is to bring you more events, more fun group rides, more programs and more discounts.

ElliptiGO Rally John Pilkington, who was one of the very first ElliptiGO owners nearly seven years ago, serves as president and treasurer of the Club. “It’s been amazing to see the growth and enthusiasm of the ElliptiGO community since I purchased my first ElliptiGO in early 2010. The new Global ElliptiGO Riders Club was created to encourage everyone, no matter where they live, to continue to be challenged personally, to create more ways to connect, and to expand the community worldwide. We all have our favorite programs and events and ‘the Club’ will be redeveloping and supporting some of the successful community challenges that the team at ElliptiGO initially created.”

The Club is wasting no time in staging its first event, taking the reins of the 4th Annual ElliptiGO Winter Classic, which will take place Jan. 13-15, 2017 in Phoenix. (See the latest details and registration link.) Jane LeGore, another long-time owner and the newly appointed Event & Outreach Coordinator for the Club, said, “The strongest connections we have are definitely the ones we make in person! To experience the pure joy of socializing and riding among a group of ElliptiGO owners is a great example of what happens at the ElliptiGO Winter Classic. Owners of all riding levels enjoy coming together. We’d like to utilize that event as a guideline to help create and organize similar events in other areas around the world, and I look forward to helping facilitate that project.”

Programs Will Grow the Community

For years, owners around the world have enjoyed participating in events so they could “pin” their spot and earn Get on the Map (GOTM) points. Jim Cremer, the Club’s technology coordinator, has ridden his bike in several noteworthy events in the U.S. and Europe. He explained why he liked GOTM.

“Get on the Map was one of the most motivating and fun events from past years. For me, chasing GOTM points was a super enjoyable way to get in shape, to meet other riders in the GO community, and to be inspired by the awesome riding done by GOers from many different places and walks of life. The Global ElliptiGO Riders Club plans to sponsor a similar (renamed) program starting in 2017.”

Design “The Look” of the Club

If you have a talent for design, you could find your work immortalized on the Club T-shirt, jerseys, hats, water bottles and who knows what else the Club might produce over the years to come. All you have to do is win the logo design contest. Get all the contest details.

Why Did The Club Form?

LeGore said some riders have asked her and the other founding officers why they formed the Global ElliptiGO Riders Club. “After a long ride last night, I really thought about how I might explain it to make more sense to the GO community. Keep in mind I’m a Realtor, so this is my analogy.

“The formation of the Global ElliptiGO Riders Club is similar to when the residents/owners of a community take over the management of their Homeowners Association once their community is built up. Until that point, the Builder/Developer lays the ground work and manages it. When the ownership in the community increases to a certain level and has the ability to manage themselves, the torch is passed from the Developer to the Community. This transition creates two very important opportunities:

1. It allows the Community to foster relationships among themselves & gives the owners the ability to focus more deeply on the actual needs of their community, and

2. It allows the Builder/Developer the opportunity to continue to focus on their mission of building, marketing and selling their product.

“I love the product, the quality and the reputation ElliptiGO has built,” she continued. “By forming this Club, we, the ElliptiGO owners, now have the ability to extend our pride in ownership, connect and build the type of community we are proud to be a part of.”
